Rex Taylor bought Viking Aircraft to support his VW engine modification business which in the late 1970s, early 1980s was and remains a popular, auto engine modification. But at least two in-flight and one ground prop separations from fractured crankshafts along with fuel issues as well as carb heat, mixture, and electrical issues makes this a poor choice in 2011.
